The basics of psychology- Its meaning and its importance

Psychology is a field which can be applied almost anywhere. The above mentioned are the different fields in psychology . Each field is in itself vast, scientific and with many branches of its own.

This case is about Gage who had a severe injury in his head and yet survived miraculasly. He did not suffer much except that his nature changed dramatically.

Another miraculaous survivor who suffered a head injury with a huge knife. Survived and is still alive.

Kitty was a working in a bar who was raped just 100 m away from her house with 38 witnesses who did nothing to help her.

This was kitty's murderer who just wanted to kill a woman and have sex with a dead body! Winston Moseley, a business machine operator, was later apprehended in connection with burglary charges; he confessed not only to the murder of Kitty Genovese, but to two other murders, both involving sexual assaults.

It has been observed that in any situation where there are a number of spectators there is diffusion of responsibility. Spectators will not act and would not want to get involved in any emergency or harmful situation.

He emerged from the forests on his own.His age was estimated that he was about twelve years old. His lack of speech, as well as his food preferences and the numerous scars on his body suggested that he was a feral child.

This case is a very recent one and very interesting. Genie was tied to her potty chair for 13 years by her dad. The only words she knew were "stop it and no more". Even after many years of grooming her , it was seen that language development was very less in genie because she had passed the critical period ie the time limit(12 years) within which a person must learn language.

Due to recurring epileptic seizures Henry went to hospital only to get a large chunk of his brain removed. Now every time he meets his wife he acts as if he is seeing her after a long time! For him tv is still a new invention and he cannot make any new memories!!

Even though he cant make new memories , he knows certain gestures and actions such as the experiment shown above(tracing a star). Though he has done this task a million times he claims he has never done that before!

This case refers to a man who can remember even meaningless nonsense letters, words and numbers in a sequence which is impossible for a man of even high IQ. He remembers his experiences from the time he was an infant around 6 months!!!!

He is a Nobel prize winner who wrote his PhD thesis in silly 27 pages!! He later on was diagnosed with schizophrenia . He had a feeling that there many people from secret agecies who wanted to kill him. He used to set out on any secret mission and roamed about streets ad cities. HE later on recovered and even was sane enoug to go on stage to recieve his Nobel prize!!!!

A lady who killed her five children because she claims that SATAN asked her to do it. She passed all lie detectors and was announced Insane. However the surprizing thig is she had the decency of putting on makeup before appearing in court!! Is she really insane?

To summarize it, I feel all of us are psychologists in some way. In every day life we deal differently with different people. If we think analytically We can see that we can put ourselves in the other person's boot before making inferences and judgements and decisions. We are all MAD in some way. THODI PAGAL PANTI BHI ZAROORI HAI!
And lastly WE must accept people for what and who they are and not discriminate them on the basis of their age, race, religion, mental capability. Only then are we HUMAN. If you see someone in need of psychotherapy or even yourself. GO and get it done just like you go to a doctor for your cold/ cough(your body). Go to the shrink for your mind.It is not wrong to go to a shrink.
