Sahyadri contains numerous trekking hot spots, waterfalls, hill stations and about 463 forts spread all over the state of Maharashtra which makes it of great historical importance.

Forts have been classified into three types:

1)Sthaladurg (Ground Forts - 156),
2)Giridurg (Hill Forts - 225) and
3)Jaldurg (Marine Forts - 71)

However, Shivaji’s contemporary has added one more type Vandurg (Forest forts - 11) to this list.

So, many fascinating places to visit near by in Maharashtra only.But, some of them are now in a dilapidated condition. We all can atleast keep these forts clean.Don't you think so?
